Swedish Massage

60 minutes $100  |  90 minutes $135

One of the most well-known massage techniques, Swedish massage utilizes light to firm pressure. It is designed to energize the body, stimulate circulation while reducing stress and tension and increasing relaxation. Benefits of Swedish massage include generalized relaxation, dissolution of scar tissue adhesions, and improved circulation—which may speed healing and reduce swelling from injury. Great for those wanting to relax, reduce stress and tension, and on a wellness routine.

Deep Tissue Massage

60 minutes $90  |  90 minutes $135

Deep Tissue is a firm to harder pressure massage that is utilized to affect the sub-layer of musculature and fascia. This technique helps with chronic muscular pain and tension, injury rehabilitation, and reduces inflammation-related pain caused by conditions such as arthritis and tendinitis. Great for athletes, active individuals, and those suffering from chronic pain and tension.

Combination Massage

60 minutes $90  |  90 minutes $135

A combination of Swedish and Deep Tissue Massage techniques suited specifically for you and your body. This massage identifies any special needs and your personal preferences in order meet a treatment goal for the session.  Great for those who would like to relax and reduce stress while working on a few specific areas of tightness, tension and pain.

Organic Facial Massage

50 minutes $85

Utilizing a rotating array of 100% organic spa products the facial massage is designed to invigorate and treat all skin types while increasing a relaxed state while decreasing stress and tension. Cleanse, refine, smooth, tighten, exfoliate, and purify your skin walking away feeling fresh and rejuvenated. A head, neck and shoulder massage is included with this treatment. Great for men and woman with all skin types.

Chair Massage

Chair massage available for parties and special events—call for group rates. Mobile massage only.

Known as Seated Massage, Chair Massage, or On-site Massage, this technique involves the use of a specially designed massage chair in which the client sits comfortably. Seated Chair Massage includes bodywork and somatic techniques, such as shiatsu, Deep Tissue, and Swedish massage. It is provided to fully clothed clients in a variety of settings, including businesses, retreats, parties and large groups, special events, conferences and festivals.

Couple’s Massage

Offering Swedish, Deep Tissue or Combination massage for couples. Prices are per person. Early reservations recommended.

Payment and Reservations

By appointment only. It’s recommended to schedule your massage at least 3 days in advance. Couples’ massage reservations are required at least a week in advance and are based on availability. Same-day appointments are by chance only. No walk-in appointments (studio only).

All appointments must be scheduled by phone at 304-704-9476. Reservations can not be made via email or text message.

Credit cards, checks and cash are excepted. A major credit card number will be required to reserve your appointment.

A Mindful Root. Bradley Carroll, LMT, BA.

Brad Carroll, founder of A Mindful Root, is a graduate of the East West College of the Healing Arts located in Portland Oregon. His studies specialized in pain, stress and tension relief massage modalities and techniques. Over the last 11 years, Brad has practiced as a professionally licensed massage therapist providing thousands of treatments in Oregon, Maryland and West Virginia.

A highlight of his professional career was volunteering for the Acupuncture Relief Project in Nepal. There he worked along with other holistic practitioners providing services to help individuals suffering from chronic pain and conditions in the third world environment of a developing country.

Brad has taught mindfulness for stress reduction courses to in a variety of therapeutic settings.  A Mindful Root was created as a result from the theory that stress is the root of all unhealthy conditions, chronic pain and disease. Massage therapy in a unique way to practice mindfulness to become aware what your body and mind are communicating in the present moment. With this awareness the roots of your well-being and begin to be grounded and grow.

In addition to becoming an LMT, Brad is a graduate of Davis and Elkins College in nearby Elkins, WV, where he received his B.A. in outdoor recreation management and tourism. While in college, he was immediately drawn to the Canaan Valley area for its pristine landscape and beauty and, over the last 20 years, Brad has called the Canaan Valley area home. The opportunity to practice in Canaan Valley and surrounding area is a dream come true. Here his connection with the peace, tranquility and calming attributes of the natural environment have become the foundation and root of his mindfulness practice. Brad continues to enjoy all the beauty, outdoor recreation opportunities and vibrant atmosphere the area provides with his family.

Covid 19 Policy

The health and safety of my clients is very important and a top priority for me. I am fully vaccinated against COVID-19. I will be limiting the number of daily appointments booked, leaving ample time between treatments for sanitation purposes.

If you are experiencing a fever, cough, or sore throat or any other COVID-19 related symptoms, please reschedule your appointment for when you are no longer symptomatic. I respectfully request, and thank you in advance for wearing a face covering when I arrive for your appointment, and throughout the entire treatment. Masks should be worn until the therapist leaves the place of service. Both therapist and client will be required to use hand sanitizer before each session.

For mobile massage services a private socially distanced space within the home should be determined.

In addition to the Massage Intake Form a COVID-19 Informed Consent must be read and signed by both the client and therapist.

Cancellation Policy

A Mindful Root appreciates you and your business, which is why we reserve your appointment time specifically for you. We understand that unforeseen situations occur in our daily lives from time to time that re-arrange or create conflict with scheduling. In the event you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please notify us by phone at least 24 hours in advance of your scheduled appointment. This allows us to schedule other clients for that time period. All cancellation notifications that occur less than 24 hours from the scheduled time will be charged 50% of the original service charge. No show/no calls will be charged 100% of the original service charge. Individuals that arrive 10 minutes passed their scheduled appointment time are subject to a shortened treatment. Individuals arriving 15 minutes passed their scheduled appointment time will be asked to reschedule.
